But dozens of North and Mid-coast lakes and ponds have been stocked this spring, and there still should be plenty of fish available. Cutthroat trout fishing has been picking up in the Mid Coast basins the past few weeks with more reports coming in of folks catching cutthroat throughout the Mid Coast, so get out and enjoy the summer weather with some great fishing!.Spring Chinook has started in some of the Mid Coast basins we have seen a few fresh fish coming into some of our basins! Fish are moving! We have finally started receiving reports of springers being caught lower in the systems so get out there and cast a line! Overall the springer bite on the midcoast has been slow but a few reports have been trickling in of fish being caught.As we go into the weekend the rivers should be low and clear and the lakes should be warmed up for the stocked fish to have an appetite! Check out the stocking schedule for an updated look on which lakes are freshly stocked close to you!.A few more reports of summers being caught on the Siletz have been coming in as fish move higher up into the system, although it’s been a slow season so far. The Siletz will still be your best bet for hatchery steelhead. Most mid-coast basins are now closed for steelhead fishing so be sure to check your local regulations before heading out.No bait is allowed above tidewater in many areas. There are lots of places to fish for trout in North Coast streams check the regulations for open rivers and creeks. Sea-runs should be moving upstream into the rivers and be spread throughout the basins at this point. There are cutthroat trout available in most North Coast streams and sea-run cutthroat fishing was good in the estuaries and tidewaters in late June and early July.There are hatchery summer steelhead runs on the Wilson and Nestucca rivers but fishing has been slow this far with very few reports of fish getting caught.See the Regulation Updates section above for details. Due to a below average forecast this year the daily and season bag limits have been reduced. “Summer Chinook” (an early component of the fall run) are starting to get caught in Nehalem Bay.Cape Mears Lake, Coffenbury Lake, Cullaby Lake, Lake Lytle, Town Lake and Vernonia Pond all have bass and other warmwater species available. Some lakes are getting weedy so using weedless rigs will increase success.
